Tourists traveling to Tajikistan do not need to get immunized. However, they should be protected with the latest in Tetanus and Typhoid along with Polio, Hepatitis A and Polio. Malaria can also be seen in Tajikistan and it’s recommended to speak with your physician for guidance on immunisations.

The first thing to note about travel in Central Asia is that most areas, specifically the towns and cities are more laid back in their attitude to Islam than their neighbors to the south of Afghanistan and Pakistan. But, it must be kept in mind that it’s technically a Muslim region , and thus caution is required in certain areas. T-shirts and long shorts are acceptable for males and females in the cities, but should you visit any mosques with active worshippers, everyone should wear trousers that are below the knee, and tops that cover their shoulders. A head scarf is also recommended for women. While on this tour, we’ll be travelling in quite remote areas seldom frequented by tourists. Locals are extremely modest in their attire and thus you’re likely to feel more comfortable in a conservative dress code too.

The official language of Tajikistan is Tajik. Russian is still used routinely in business and communication.
The majority of the population adhere to Sunni Islam, with the minority of people who adhere to Russian Orthodox, Catholicism, Buddhism and Judaism.
Food and drinks
This tour focuses mainly on soups and other meats. There are a few vegetables that are difficult to get in remote areas and at higher altitudes. There is an abundance of dried fruits and nuts available to try though.
The alcohol options are limited to beer and vodka. Anyone who wants to experiment with other drinks – like Scotch or Gin is recommended to buy it at no cost and carry it with them. Mixer drinks like tonic water can be extremely difficult to come by, even.
