From the third article from the series for the “miracle” along with the “mind,” we are going to bring kindness and unkindness in to the discussion about specialness. In A Course in Miracles (ACIM), kindness is associated with humility and learning and unkindness has been arrogance and specialness. The miracle-minded obviously choose humility, learning and kindness which suggests they’ll eventually learn how to forgive all specialness which is what maintains the separation from God. Belief in separation relates to if you’re the main one Son perceiving Himself separate and different fragments. All unkindness stems from the anxiety inside the mind whenever we repress our fear and guilt as opposed to forgiving our specialness desires. We blame and project it onto others who are actually an element of us in fact.

There are two books by Kenneth Wapnick on, “The Healing Strength of Kindness.” Volume 1 is on, “Releasing Judgment” and Volume 2 on, “Forgiving Our Limitations.” In my view, these needs to be required reading and continuing study if you’re a serious Course student. The next passage says it all:

If you reserve the brilliant metaphysics of your Course in Miracles along with its sophisticated psychological insights, this course may be pared down to one simple rule: Be kind. If you’re not kind, then not just are you not practicing this course, it’s impossible you may also commence to comprehend it. Regardless of how brilliant knowing of the metaphysics may be, if you are not being kind toward somebody else, about to catch doing what this system is asking (The Healing Power of Kindness, Vol.1: Releasing Judgment by Kenneth Wapnick, p. 10, underline mine).

In spite of this admonition, we insist on being unkind:

This wherewithal to truly practice A Course in Miracles’ kind principles of forgiveness that they study, and occasionally teach, has perhaps been the most serious failing among its students. This book’s sequel, “Few Choose to Listen,” discusses how students often conceal their thought system of specialness within the guise of spiritual counseling or friendship. The absence of simple kindness is, unfortunately, unmistakable to everyone except this course student making the spiritual pronouncements (The material Of your Course in Miracles: Each one is Called, p. 306).

The non-dualistic meaning of kindness cannot be understood here from the example of dualism provided that specialness is continuously chosen because the ego arises from an unkind thought against God and Heaven. Our unwillingness to acknowledge this concerning the ego, and just what all that thought method is able to do, is a thing that hinders our progress with the Course. We have to be willing to consider the ego with the Holy Spirit – the real Teacher – and take that darkness to Him for forgiveness. Nothing may be hidden and that is right out the Course.

Kindness To other people Is Kindness To Self

In their books on kindness, Mr. Wapnick also covers the cause of an person’s unkind behavior is the identical fear (and repressed guilt) that’s in our very own mind and that’s what unites us. We have exactly the same right-mind and the same power to select from them. Determining to be kind doesn’t make us different or better; rather this means we have been prepared to practice the “kind principles” from the Course in order that we are able to figure out how to understand everything it is teaching. It’s just a question of priority.

He proceeds to point out that to learn the best way to be kind towards others, we’re practicing being kind toward ourselves because, “you plus your brother is one. They may be part of you. About to catch different.” Which i mentioned above directly to one’s heart of the ego’s thought system wherein the idea of difference is the place where the ego began – God and his awesome Son were separate and different – and undoes it. Perhaps the slightest hint of specialness will be the ego. What he or she is saying becomes clear in case you actually study and use the sort forgiveness in the Course!

A significant student with the Course wants to know what this means. These students would rather be described as a happy learner using the only true teacher – the Holy Spirit – rather than spiritually special teacher in the ego in all forms. They are thrilled to study on Him how to be without any the burdens associated with denying reality:

Forgiveness’ kindness is obscure at first, because salvation just isn’t understood, nor truly sought for (S-2.I.1). And here you may set down the duty of denying truth. This is actually the burden that is certainly terrible, and never reality (T-21-VI.7).

Self versus “self” -or- Identity versus “identity”

Inside the Course, there’s a distinction between the “Self” which is our true Identity as Christ along with the “self” identity with all the ego. This can be a a key point to comprehend because first accepts the part God gave us through being God-created; though the latter is self-created and completely dependent on the ego along with its purpose of vengeance and maintaining separation. Everyone already believes these are the ego. We may not be here otherwise. To consider the possibly of the being correct along with demand for correction restores desire to the mind since it suggests the way out.

When a spiritually special Course teacher (a kind of unhealed healer) teaches specialness of the ego, they are being unkind towards others and thus themselves whilst they are highly unlikely to view it like that. Fortunately they are improbable to believe it’s kind for someone to possess boundaries with them his or her fear and guilt (and anxiety) are really great. However, honestly exploring the world, we have seen it is stuffed with the fragmented Sonship who’s anxiety-ridden from identifying with the ego self. Unkindness is rampant on earth plus this course community. As Wapnick states though, we will never discover the Course until we elect being kind.

Our behaviors would be the illustration showing which mind we’ve got chosen (God or the ego). The ego is a vengeful and tyrannical thought system of unkindnesses whereas freedom from this is tied straight to kindness:

Without anxiety the mind is wholly kind (T-6.III.3).
Freedom cannot be learned by tyranny of any kind (T-8.IV.7).

It is also unkind to switch the Course and spiritual specialness does that through competition with God and thus everyone. One small change effectually changes everything with the Course, a total thought system. If you believe you understand that, you do not. Once you learn you are doing, you’ll automatically be kind for you personally see the inherent value kindness plays in learning and knowing the Course. As Wapnick states, “It’s a question of priority.”

When Kindness Calls

To sum up, let’s turn back the now to Mr. Wapnick and his book, “The Message Of an Course In Miracles: Few Decide to Listen,” and also to Chapters 4 and 6 on spiritual specialness. I’ll highlight some important passages beginning with an incredibly telling quote. First, however, allow me to include this two-book set (including, “Few Opt to Listen”) also need to be required ongoing study for serious Course students:

“Love is frightening because it’s all-encompassing and there there is no room for specialness or individual uniqueness.”

He goes on to mention that if we are lured to call focus on our thoughts is a few deficiency, or lack, we are wanting to make such limitation real and into something which divides the Sonship. The rock of salvation is there is no-one to lose so another gains, i.e., you’ll find nothing to take from another, not even their success. However, we don’t appreciate this until following the mandatory time purchased learning why these words are really correct in addition to their true meaning. What your body seem doing says which internal teacher we now have chosen – the ego or Holy Spirit. The ego is limitations, judgment, specialness and separation – the very complete opposite of the Sonship jointly.

When we are not kind, we are really not Course students or teachers of God (the program as our path). When kindness calls, it must be chosen as kindness contributes to miracle-mindedness. Unkindness is with the ego.
