Prior to buying a kukri and other outdoor style machete, I’ll share with you five important facts to consider:
1. Kukris are typically noticeable to most knife enthusiasts. This is due to the distinct curve with the blade, that’s usually flat ground.
The leading edge of all kukris are made thin enough to cut with authority, but thick enough to consider continuous pounding and hacking.
2. You will recognize that your kukri is heavier towards front of the blade.
This is accomplished purposely to give the knife more chopping and hacking power. Even the weakest people can readily chop small brush or trees with many kukris.
3. Use special caution when the time comes to sharpen your kukri. The contour from the blade is wonderful for chopping and appearance cool. However, remember that to accept proper angle when sharpening this type of unique style of knife.
4. Will be your kukri constructed with the full tang? This type of construction is EXTRA-important in terms of kukri-style knives because of the hard use that most of which endure.
If your kukri is not full tang, remember that the knife could separate from the handle and put you in a number of danger!
5. You could be inclined to buy a high carbon kukri. High carbon steel is often super-tough and stays sharp for years.
Understand that your high carbon kukri will rust or even maintained properly. Simply avoid any exposure to water if at all possible whilst a lightweight coat of oil for the blade after every use.
