While different cap sizes and types are seemingly unlimited, it will take a surprisingly low number of capping machines to pay for most of caps. Of course, unique and rare container tops might require custom capping machinery. For some other caps, a smaller band of capping machines will “seal” the deal.

SPINDLE CAPPERS. Spindle capping machines are one of the most widely used capping machine produced for the packaging industry. These cappers use teams of matched discs to spin caps down onto bottles or another containers because they go through the capping area with a conveyor system. Normally, three to four teams of discs will likely be utilized to gradually tighten caps. Elevators or vibratory bowls assist these continuous capping machines by delivering caps to every individual bottle, leaving the operator of the machine to easily replace bulk caps as needed. These capping machines are equipped for an array of screw type caps, including flat caps, sports caps, trigger sprayers and others. A number of containers, including F-style containers (think of anti-freeze, a long narrow container having a handle), can be run using the spindle capper and multiple containers require minimal changeover. The versatility and easy operation are two factors which make this capping machine popular.

CHUCK CAPPERS. Chuck capping machines are similar to spindle cappers because they use screw caps. Chuck cappers normally include a metallic chuck along with a rubber insert matched on the cap size. When a bottle is within place within the capping head, the chuck descends to use consistent torque to each and every bottle and cap combination. Automatic chuck cappers can sometimes include multiple chucks to increase the capping machine speed. Handheld, semi-automatic and tabletop chuck cappers will usually cap one bottle during a period. While one chuck and chuck insert are equipped for different cap sizes, a facility running both small and large caps might require multiple chucks and/or chuck inserts. Chuck cappers are fantastic for flat caps, however some modification for the chuck and inserts enable other screw type caps to get run at the same time.

SNAP CAPPERS AND LID PRESSERS. Snap cappers and lid pressers are generally useful for non-screw type tops.
